Welcome to my Homepage!
I am a first-year PhD candidate in Statistics in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS). In PhD studies, I start to focus on large language model routing, alignment, and evaluation, as well as topics in tabular foundation model. I am fortunate to closely work with Prof. Doudou Zhou (primary advisor) and Prof. Yan Shuo Tan. My first name can be pronounced as /ˈlɒŋ.tjɛn ʂʅ/ (or “Long-tee-en Shr”).
Before NUS, I received my B.S. in Statistics & B.Econ. in Finance (minor) at the Department of Statistics and Data Science, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), China. During my undergraduate studies, I am honored to be advised by Prof. Qi-Man Shao and Prof. Yifang Ma at my department. For my research experiences, I used to be a research intern in Prof. Hongyu Zhao’s Lab at Yale University in 2024. Also, I explored a variety of research areas under the supervision of Prof. Rasmus Nielsen (UC Berkeley) and Prof. Molei Liu (PKU). My updated CV is available here.
My previous research experiences include: (i) Causal Machine Learning: Kernel-assisted double/debiased machine learning and robust inference in complex datasets (e.g., distribution shift and multi-source learning); (ii) Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics, such as genetic fine-mapping in GWAS studies. Bayesian methods; (iii) Computational Social Science and Network Science.
I am very fortunate and grateful to be advised by my mentors and supervisors and to do research projects with my collaborators!
Beyong studies and research, my hobbies include basketball (huge NBA fan!), billiards, running, tabel tennis (used to have a professional dream), music, etc.

[Aug 26th, 2026] Passed the (written) PhD Qualifying Examination!
[June 16th, 2026] Grateful for receiving the Summa Cum Laude (top 10 undergraduate) honor from the College of Science (SUSTech) and being a candidate for the university’s top 10 undergraduate figure.
[Apr 22nd, 2026] Grateful for the offer of admission from NUS Statistics PhD! It is my honor to accept the offer. Unfortunately rejected by every US PhD program this (extremely competitive) application cycle, but looking forward to the next 4-year journey!
[Oct 13rd, 2025] Happy to receive (China) National Scholarship and Guo Xie Birong Scholarship! Big thank you to the support from the department staff and my supervisors.
